Signature Ride: March 15-16 2014
Well, it is Signature Ride time again! The RideSouth Signature ride was conceived years ago to “Ride South” to Hattiesburg from the RideSouth shop. We have developed an excellent route on back roads and lightly traveled highways to and from Hattiesburg. The distance on day one is 117 miles and day two is 109 miles. Folks wanting to limit their mileage to 82 miles can ride out and back from Hattiesburg to Prentiss on Saturday.
The Signature Ride is a tour, not a race! Limited SAG support is timed for an overall average of 15 mph with limited stop time. You will need to start out a bit faster though as the hills are near the last third of the ride to Prentiss. The Signature Ride finishes on the Longleaf Trace, then at the Holiday Inn in Hattiesburg with a reception from 4:30-6 PM. If you are being transported back, the RideSouth bus will be leaving shortly after the reception. If you are staying the night, the ride back will begin about 7:00 AM from the Holiday Inn.
Friday, March 14, we will have a brief meeting for riders, SAG volunteers and guests from 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM at the shop. We will have excellent riding fare following the meeting including Chicken Pasta, salad, bread and refreshments. Come and help us finalize transport plans, meet your fellow riders and fuel up for a great adventure! Please register and sign the waiver while you are here. We will give out maps and cue cards for folks that are launching with us at RideSouth that should be turned in at the reception in Hattiesburg for tee shirts (everyone), and medals (RideSouth launchers, only)! Remember to bring your clothes bag if you plan to stay overnight and ride back with us on Sunday.

RideSouth Launch Time: Saturday, March 15 7:00 A.M. Sharp! Arrive Early!
Wear bright jersey (not red or blue, please). Lights are suggested. Safety is paramount!!
Bring small overnight bag to put in the SAG vehicle. Bring towel and soap to shower after the ride. Sign Waiver, pay fee.
NOT A RACE! Stay within 3-4 minutes of the next rider until Pinola Baptist Church.
Rest Stops: Texaco, Shell, Harrisville Baptist Church (10-10:30 A.M.), Pinola Baptist, and New Hebron (Sullivan’s Grocery)
LUNCH: 1-2:00 P.M. Prentiss–Provided by Corner Bakery. Sign up here if you plan to launch from Hattiesburg.
Hattiesburg Reception (Rear Parking Lot) 4:30-6:00 P.M. Turn in cue cards for tee shirts.
DINNER at Cracker Barrel around 6:30 P.M. (No reservations accepted. On your own.)
Arrange Return Shuttle Friday night at meeting. Louis has room for 3; Lane has room for 5 in the bus.
Launch Sunday by 7:00 A.M at Hattiesburg Holiday Inn.
There will be no SAG on the way back. Ride self-supported. Place overnight bags in Laura Morgan’s truck to be transported to the shop on Sunday morning.
