Free at last!

Free at last!

Like a bird caged up for the winter feels free as the door springs open, we are all ready to don shorts and escape on a bicycle somewhere! The somewhere, for this rider, will be the Longleaf Trace – Prentiss to Hattiesburg and back . . .10 AM, Sunday. Join us if you dare for a Springtime trike ride in the middle of February.

Remember, miles are your friend if you plan to do the RideSouth Signature Ride on March 15 and March 16, only four weeks away. You will need some time in the seat before the 227 mile weekend! We already have folks signing up to go both ways this year! Or just one way may be enough! Either way, it will be a great weekend. We will have medals for those folks leaving from the shop and tee shirts for the rest of the riders who sign up.

More on the Signature Ride later. Remember the Greenspeed Showcase Event will be February 28 and March 1. Please RSVP if you plan to make the auction Friday night so we can plan the food and refreshments. Bid on a brand new Magnum, with all the proceeds to go to Batson Children’s Hospital right here in Jackson! The Magnum is one of the coolest trikes ever! Show up with a RideSouth Greenspeed trike on Saturday for the 8:00 AM ride, and get a cool “Show it off!” tee shirt . . . free!

So, if you are feeling a bit confined, there is no better time to hop on your bike and feel the freedom of going somewhere nice under your own power! There is no license required, no gasoline, no noise, no restraints . . . just freedom. What could be better!

Magnum-ificent!

We just had to share this story with you! Al came in yesterday and we did not recognize him at first!

Jim,

it was really good to see you again. Here are some photos of my on-going journey. The photo on the left, is of me on my Greenspeed Magnum, weighing in at a mere 356 lbs. My brother in law is on my left aboard his Hase. The center photo was taken while crossing the 1000 mile mark on my odometer. Do you notice the 130lb. difference? On the right is my trike.

I cannot thank RideSouth enough for helping me achieve my goals. Life is enjoyable again. My cycling has gone from short trips around the block to 25-30 mile, daily rides. I am addicted!

Thank you again for all of your help, Jim.

Sincerely,

Al Cannon

Blooming

It happens every Spring. Trees bud and flowers bloom. The cold, gray skies transform to warm blue. New life begins.

RideSouth has survived fifteen Winters. Fifteen seasons of cold that kept many folks inside. Not everyone, just most. Our loyal customers have kept us alive . . . Thank You! Others are curious, and waiting.

The wait is over! Our Spring is here! We have prepared and we are ready! We have new bikes, cool kayaks, clothes and accessories. We have new personnel in the form of Clint and Chris, who are here to assist you! We have new events blooming also! The Showcase Ride Events begin February 28! The Signature Ride will be March 15-16. The New RideSouth bus will make this popular ride even better! Our Saturday Bread Rides have new pavement on the Round ‘th Rez route. What could be better for a cyclist than new, smooth pavement!

Yes, there are lingering signs of Winter still around. We know, however, that blooming happens, and it is beautiful! Come into the shop today and see us bloom. You might find that it is contagious!

Signature Ride

Get used to it!

Many of us live in the South because we like the warm weather. Lately, it seems Mississippi has been moved North of the Mason Dixon Line, at least weather wise! The temps are cold, the wind is blowing and the sun is hiding. This has been going on a bit longer than we like, but that’s the way it is . . . so we will get used to it.

Riding a bike in cold weather can be fun and rewarding. Start off cold and burn more calories to stay warm! Some sun in the winter months provides a dose of Vitamin D as well! Working against the cold, dense air is harder than in the summer, too. Great training!

Good, light gloves and socks are essentials. A layer of lightweight marino wool provides dry warmth in any condition. Cover your head with a thin cap under your helmet to keep head and ears warm and you are set for a good, long ride! Regulate your head temperature easily by uncovering your ears as you ride.

We may not like cold weather any more than we like taxes, but taxes and death are inevitable, someone said. So, Southerners, let’s get used to the cold, ride a bike, and increase our health score so, at least, we can continue to pay our taxes for a long, long time!

See you Saturday at 8!

Get up and . . . Go!

Townie Go
The new Electra Townie Go will excite you! Guaranteed! The SRAM electric drive magically adds power to the pedal when you need it. The foot-forward technology patented by Electra gives safety and comfort to your ride for even more fun! We have one on the floor for you to try today!

BentLovers & Friends

Thank you so much for the positive feedback concerning our Showcase Ride Event! We have decided to postpone the first Showcase Ride Event until March 1, 2014. That is, the Friday night auction will be February 28 and the ride will be March 1. We will showcase Greenspeed for this first event!

For the next year at least, we will showcase other supporting sponsors on the first Saturday of every other month, through November. So, plan your calendar around March 1, May 3, July 5 (or July 12), September 6 and November 1. We will be arranging with our sponsors as to which date they would like.

Meanwhile, we have lots of cool machines that make wonderful Christmas gifts to your family . . . or yourself! Come visit us now for the best selection.

We will be closed December 24-27 for travel to visit family in Texas. We plan to be back in the shop for the rest of the year. If you need to coordinate with Santa, we are happy to help through Monday, December 23.

Many of you may have met the Dude in our YouTube Peer Pressure movie. Check out what he is into now and stay tuned for the sequel, Recumbent Love! He has discovered The Way to Ride while sporting our new Showcase Ride tee shirt!

Thank You!

Thanksgiving 2013

BentLovers & Friends

First of all, the RideSouth shop will be closed from late Wednesday afternoon until Monday at 1:00 PM. This is the longest time we have been away from the shop, and it will be difficult! We are visiting family in Alabama, and that will be good!

Besides having family to visit in Alabama, and elsewhere, we are thankful this year for our extended family of customers and friends that has grown over the last fifteen years at RideSouth! We hope you will come by this week for some unadvertised specials we expect to offer to you the next three days! We have to make up for the time away, so don’t be shy about asking for deals on kayaks and bikes in stock!

Also, we are thankful for newfound help in the shop in the person of Mr. Chris Marble! You all know I need help, and Chris is certainly capable! We will have newly assembled bikes and trailers that you need to check out before they leave the building! Come by and say hello to Chris!

As always, we are working on some exciting events and projects! The next big event is the kickoff of the RideSouth Showcase Ride Series! For this inaugural event, we will have a representative from Greenspeed here on December 6-7. We plan to have a buffet dinner at the RideSouth shop beginning at 6:30 PM on Friday, December 6. Wear your tennis shoes and bring your checkbook, because we will have a ping pong challenge and auction off a new Greenspeed bike! We plan to donate proceeds from the auction to Batson Children’s Hospital, here in Jackson. Come back on Saturday for a fun ride on bike lanes and trails in the area, beginning at 8:00 AM from the shop. Ride distances may vary from 11-25 miles. For our customers showing up on our Greenspeed trikes, we have a cool “Show it Off!” tee shirt that is sure to be a big hit!

There is much more going on behind the scenes here at RideSouth that is sure to benefit you! We encourage you to sign up for our email, check our website often, and visit the store on a regular basis. We are here, only because of you, and we plan to be here for you! Thank you for your continued support and patronage! We will continue to work on projects and events that will continue to remind you to tell your friends, that RideSouth is . . . “The Way to Ride”!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

RideSouth Showcase Ride!

ANNOUNCING A NEW RIDE SERIES: The RideSouth Showcase Ride! Four times a year, RideSouth will host the Showcase Ride, showcasing one of our product lines. The Showcase Ride will include a buffet dinner at the RideSouth shop, on Friday evening prior to the Saturday ride event. On Saturday, ride leaders will escort riders on bike lanes and bike trails through the area, approximately 25 miles, or less. After the buffet dinner on Friday, an auction will be conducted to auction off a featured product from the manufacturer showcased for that event. Proceeds will go to a local charity.

There will be no charge for the Showcase Ride! RideSouth and the Manufacturer will pick up the tab! We will encourage principals of the supplier to show up for the event and answer questions from our customers about their products. We hope to have tee shirts to promote the ride and the products, too! We encourage ALL customers who have purchased the showcased product from us to ride it in the event to receive a free tee shirt! Customers committing to purchase one of our showcased machines on event day, will also receive a free tee shirt!
